What Organisations Say About Working With Us
We let the organisations we've worked with speak for themselves. These are honest accounts from real teams across Malaysia's social sector.
Back to HomeFeedback from the Field
"We used the Mission Clarity Session ahead of a major funding application. I was sceptical it would produce anything we didn't already know, but the facilitated process surfaced disagreements between our staff and board that had been quietly affecting our work for months. The one-page summary has been on our wall ever since."
"The Programme Review was thorough and the recommendations were practical rather than theoretical. My one gripe was that we had to reschedule two of the interviews at short notice — that's on us, not them. The final document was very usable. We implemented about three-quarters of the suggestions within the first two months."
"We're a small social enterprise that runs community skills programmes in KL. We worked with Bramblewick on the Capacity-Building Roadmap when we were struggling to figure out how to grow without compromising what made us good. The roadmap they produced was honest about our constraints and prioritised things we could realistically do. Very different from other advisory we'd tried."
"Working with Bramblewick felt nothing like the corporate consulting our funder had previously recommended we try. They asked questions first and didn't arrive with answers already written. The fees are reasonable for what you get — we paid RM 2,300 and received recommendations that we're still working through six months later."
"We had our Mission Clarity Session a few months after our founding executive director left. Our board was fragmented on where the organisation should go next. The session didn't solve everything, but it gave us a common language and a starting point for the harder board conversations that followed. Worth every ringgit."
"We came to Bramblewick after completing a government-funded capacity assessment that produced a 60-page report we couldn't act on. In contrast, their Roadmap output was eight pages, clearly prioritised, and written as if the author understood what it's like to run a ten-person organisation with three funding streams. Night and day."
Three Organisations, Three Different Journeys
A Youth Welfare Society Finds Common Ground
Challenge
A registered youth welfare society in Selangor had been operating for twelve years. After a change in committee leadership, different team members held different views on what the organisation's core purpose actually was — which made consistent messaging to funders and communities nearly impossible.
What We Did
We ran a Mission Clarity Session with eight committee members and two senior programme staff. The preparation call revealed that four distinct "versions" of the mission were in circulation. The facilitated session worked through the underlying values each version reflected and built shared language from common ground.
Outcomes
Within three weeks of the session, the organisation had revised its funder-facing language and updated its website. Their next funding application used the new mission summary verbatim. The committee chair noted that internal meetings had become noticeably less circular since the session. Duration: 2 weeks.
"It felt like we'd been arguing about wallpaper when the house needed new foundations. Bramblewick helped us see that clearly, without making anyone feel criticised for it."
A Food Security Programme Reduces Internal Backlog
Challenge
A KL-based social enterprise running food security programmes had grown from two to seven programmes over five years. Their original coordination systems — mostly spreadsheets and group chats — were struggling to keep up. Information was being lost, duplicated, and miscommunicated between team members.
What We Did
The Programme & Operations Review involved six staff interviews across programme, coordination, and management roles, plus a review of their existing tracking documents and internal communication records. We identified four main workflow bottlenecks and twelve smaller inefficiencies.
Outcomes
Our recommendations included three tool changes and several process adjustments that the team could implement without additional budget. Three months after delivery, the operations manager reported a 40% reduction in the time spent on internal coordination queries. Duration: 3 weeks.
"The recommendations were specific enough to act on immediately. Not vague suggestions but actual changes with clear rationale. That made implementation much easier."
An Established NGO Plans Its Next Phase
Challenge
An NGO with ten years of community health education work in the Klang Valley had reached a point where its current model had run out of room to grow without structural changes. They needed a plan that was honest about their capacity constraints, not aspirational in ways that would set them up to fail.
What We Did
Over five weeks, we ran three facilitated sessions with the leadership team, conducted individual capability assessments with programme staff, and reviewed their current partnership and funding landscape. The roadmap was structured around what was achievable within their existing means, with optional extensions if additional funding materialised.
Outcomes
The 12-month roadmap gave the team a clear framework for three significant decisions they had been deferring: a new partnership structure, a staffing change, and a gradual reduction in one underperforming programme. Six months in, two of the three had been completed. Duration: 5 weeks.
"We had a lot of ideas going into this engagement. The roadmap helped us see which ones were actually priorities and which ones were distractions we'd been avoiding labelling as such."
